PLAY BYOliver Goodwill.
HAIR COLOR/STYLEDom has dark brown hair that he lets grow to several inches long, though he usually gels it to keep it out of the way. His hair can say a lot about what kind of day he's having- if it looks like a bird tried to nest in it, you'd best stay out of his way.
EYE COLORHe has pale blue-grey eyes that just get lighter closer to the pupil, with a dark edging that gives the effect of being even more colorless.
BODY TYPEStanding at 6'3, Dominic doesn't have a particularly hard time keeping in shape- he sort of an average size for a guy his height. He's no twig, nor is he a bodybuilder- in terms of muscle, there is definition, but not to the point of being apparent through every bit of clothing. He keeps physically active as mainly a stress reliever- and the more it builds up, the more he feels the need to get out and get away. He sometimes uses core and weights, and though he doesn't enjoy much long distance running, he does it any way.
FACIAL FEATURES
Dom has a long, slightly pointed face, though it's softened slightly when he grows a bit of scruff (which is often, nowadays). His nose is fairly long and straight, and his lower lip is more full than the upper.
CLOTHING STYLEHis formal wear was once what he thought he'd be wearing every day as a teacher- something smart, classy. Now having been in the position for some time, he's turned much more casual at work, and taken to being a little more flashy when out on the town instead. T-shirts and jeans make up a large part of his wardrobe- and he'll pair anything with jeans. He really doesn't like dress pants.

ADVANTAGESstrengths, personality only, at least four.
Dedicated - His social life might be in the gutter, but he really does like being a teacher, and feeling he's helping new students- he just can't always live up to this expectation.
Trustworthy - If someone is depending on him, he will be there- it keeps his mind off of himself, and he enjoys having the focus elsewhere. As for secrets, he'll take it to the grave.
Kind - Believe it or not, he will lend a helping hand to those who need it- if he's in the right state of mind, that is.
Self-control - He has his own set of rules, and when there's something he's sworn not to do, he'll stick to it. Most of the time.
DISADVANTAGESweaknesses, personality only, at least four.
Self-destructive - Drinking, picking fights, wallowing in pity, that sort of thing.
Stubborn - He's stubborn when badgering students to get their work in, and stubborn when it comes to talking about himself.
Unfair - Okay, so it's not usually in context with his students, but Dom can be pretty biased.
Moody - Sometimes it only takes a little to set him off- and sometimes it takes a lot. It's not the usual stuff either- insults, or people openly provoking him. Just little things that rub him the wrong way, usually mentioned in passing that he just happens to pick up on.
PERSONALITYHe seems to be under the impression that the days in his life worth living have come and gone too soon. He used to be just a regular sweetheart, a typical guy with typical friends, but got lost along the way. He has some self-destructive tendencies, but really does try to not let it affect anyone but himself- easily done, as he tries to isolate his night life from any life he has at the school.
He can come across as many things, but in the classroom he tries to appear to be a good influence- not for the hell of it, or for any kind of status symbol, but because he really does want his students to succeed. He settled into the role quite easily- he likes giving lectures, even getting back homework on account of the unique subject matter. He has loved being a teacher from the start, and it still plays a very large role for him. His life is very closely connected to the school, and despite it being where he attended highschool, he loves it still. It's home.
Dom has a bit of a skewed view of right and wrong when it comes down to it- offend him in just the right way and he'll despise you, or maybe he'll just let it go. He has some sort of internal list of how he deals out fairness, and it's not always guaranteed to stay the same from one situation to the next, which can be rather tiresome.

HISTORY
The woman was a like a model- beautiful and tall, with tanned skin that never seemed to age, and inky curls that spread around her narrow face in a huge mane. She literally emitted heat, her skin searing to the bare touch- a freak of nature to the uninitiated perhaps, had she been any less attractive. Desired by many, Aetna had not walked among the mortals in quite some time, but every god likes to have fun once in awhile...
Average, average, average. That was Dominic's life after he was adopted by an older couple at one year old. Julia and Liam Moreau already had three healthy children, but they had the extra resources to add a fourth, and thought it best to adopt. They had a house in Richmond, BC, just a short way from Vancouver.
He never remembered an olympian for a mother- or a human biological father. He didn't even know he was adopted until he was eight years old and the truth came out during a family dinner in a restaurant- it caused quite a scene. But the truth of what he was, who's legacy he carried remained a mystery, and it was for the best. He was raised with two older brothers, and a sister, the eldest of the three. The boys were typically rough- wrestling, fighting tooth and nail, while Ina kept them out of any real trouble. Liam and Jules were highly involved in the kids' activities, though as time went on the two started to drift apart. It was nothing that was going to destroy their marriage- they just focused their efforts on providing more important influences for their children. There was never any need, or danger of singling out Dominic
When Dom was around twelve years old, heading into middle school, things took a turn for the worst. In the middle of November, when early snowfall and late rain made the Vancouver streets turn to slush, Liam and Jules got in an accident that they couldn't walk away from. The officers showed up at the house, where Ina was controlling the three rambunctious boys. She was nineteen at the time, and had taken the year off before heading to college to make sure she was fully prepared. What she wasn't prepared for was looking after the boys full time- they would need to move, and she would go away to school.
It was like their world had come crashing down. Dom, the youngest, was hit hard. It didn't matter that he wasn't biologically related, like his siblings. These were his parents, gone- lying cold in a morgue somewhere in the center of the city, awaiting their closed-casket funeral.
But the boys weren't without help- their grandparents arrived from Alberta as quickly as possible to take on the duties of raising them. The attended the funeral, and it was decided that they would accompany Nadia and Earl back to their home in Banff. There, the healing process could begin- or so they had hoped. Within a week of arriving, Dominic came down with a fever that just kept climbing. He spent three weeks in the hospital, moody and isolated, while doctors poked and prodded him, trying to decipher why he wasn't dead yet. When he stabilized somewhat, he was released on home-rest. There might have been more publicity on this 'breakthrough' condition of a child surviving those temperatures, but his grandparents kept it hushed up for his sake.
Over the next few months Dom took it upon himself to control his condition. He didn't want people to touch him, now when he could take his temperature and get it to register at 110°. Yet nothing else seemed to be wrong with him, so he was left well enough alone. Only he seemed to notice the little curls of smoke whenever he got angry, or the lack of heat from flames- perhaps because he was looking for them.
His bout of 'sickness' was what set him and the family on the right path to easing the pain of the tragedy of their parents. It was distracting, and a relief when he was finally able to return to a normal school. He had only two years however, before his routine was once again shattered. A pamphlet from a special school arrived, and at first he thought it was one of his brother Jack's jokes. He kept it to himself though, until he found a way to breach the subject with his grandparents. The talk that followed was a long one, for despite his initial doubt, he knew there was something different about him. It wasn't as if his grandparents could deny it, either- the proof was right in front of them, in the form of their surviving grandson.
So off to Thadeus he went, back to the west coast where he had grown up. And the school that awaited him...it was like it was made for him. The perfect blend of unique classes, and everyday life that made him feel just like everyone else- both the humans on the street, and the students with exceptional powers. He thrived among his classmates, all of them demigods and nymphs. He had nothing to compare it to, having never attended a regular highschool, but he had to admit that attitudes remained the same. Everyone just acted as if it were the most normal thing in the world to learn archery and ride pegasi on campus- boys still annoyed girls, parties still cropped up in the dormitories, and his fondness for the place only grew.
On holidays and over the summer he returned to his grandparents condo- they were always pleased to see him and his siblings, but he liked to think that he in particular shared a strong bond with them- he had spent the most time out of his siblings living there, after all. Despite having once been so close to his siblings, he found they were wary of him, and that weird school he attended. But they had been brought up to stick together, so it was never more than slight tension, and Dom obliged by not bringing up the topic of Thaedeus very often when they were around.
By the time he was eighteen, the Aetna demigod was exploring the potential of his powers. Not only did his skin physically burn those around him (it posed a problem for getting to know girls a little better), but he could withstand heat, and if pushed enough, could start small fires, though he couldn't quite work out how to do it on command. It was around this time that he met Jane Phillips. She was in his year, a demigoddess. She didn't need powers like Aphrodite or Hera to put Dominic under her spell- he fell head over heels. They dated for the next year of high school, and made the usual plans of naive teens- go out traveling, come back and go to college together- it was going to be great. It wasn't the first girlfriend Dom had ever had, nor would it be the last, but he spent years chasing after her, obeying her every whim. She was his world- always there to greet him after classes, bring out the fun in life, just as he was there to make sure she stayed grounded, and be there to pick up the pieces when she had one of her predictable fits. Jane had a temper, a wicked one, and she liked to play mind games, but it was something he could overlook- he loved her.
And then she left him.
There was no tearful goodbye. No 'I'm doing this for your own good'. She had been seeing someone behind his back, and decided to up and leave the day she finally admitted it. It was a load off her chest, she told him, and all he could do was watch her go. But a broken relationship...that wasn't unheard of, even a long term one like theirs. He would get through it. He was starting a job back at the school he loved, teaching, and it gave him something else to think of, at least until disaster struck again. His grandparents' health was deteriorating, so after less than a year in his post as a teacher, he headed back home to see what he could do. They eventually both passed away, more peacefully than his parents, but it still left him feeling hollow. Slowly, ever so slowly, the resilience was draining out of him. He returned to Thaedeus, his lifeless one bedroom apartment, with only the inheritance of from his parents and grandparents for company. He tried to go on as he had, but it was getting harder. Ina, Thom, and Jack were doing well, two of them having moved back to Vancouver- Ina had married some time ago, and Thom had recently proposed to his girlfriend. Jack was working on a business with several graduate friends, and had moved to New York. There was no doubt in his mind that he loved teaching, but time was standing still.
On his twenty fourth birthday, Jane returned to the school- he had been warned by a friend that she was on her way to talk to him. He told himself he wanted nothing to do with her, but there was still a part of him that wanted to do whatever she asked, be her pawn once again. She tried to be friendly, while he tried to decipher what she was trying to get from this meeting. Eventually she just admitted to making a mistake- and as wary as he was, Dominic found himself already attempting to forgive her. Where was that sense of betrayal from before, the pain? Did he not remember what she had done to earn the grudge in the first place? Apparently not, because he took her back like the fool he was. He was desperate to make some progress in his life, like so many of the people around him were. But just as she had before, Jane took advantage of Dominic's vulnerability. He just needed someone around, after the losses he had suffered, and she took the opportunity to use him for all he was worth.
She left, and for good this time. He didn't bother chasing her. He wasn't just hurt- he was angry. Someone had cut the lines to the person he had once been- he wanted nothing to do with that weak version of himself, and nothing to do with the woman who had destroyed him once again. So the spiral downward got steeper and steeper. Two years later, at the end of another school year, he heard through the grapevine that she had settled down with some guy in Ohio, and was seven months pregnant. The few people he knew personally in Seattle were aware of the toll the bitterness was taking on him, and tried to be of help. But eventually they stopped looking for him, stopped calling, and he didn't blame them one bit.~~~
With the beginning of the new school year, Dom spends his days teaching, enjoying a respite from his nightlife. He spends most of his time out of class either in his apartment just wasting time, or out in the clubs and bars, washing away his worries with a cold drink, convincing himself he doesn't need what everyone else has.- - - as you worry about the sins of your past - - -
