Stepping into the small cafe, books underneath one arm, Andrew drew in a breath through his nose. When he was awake in the early hours, he liked nothing more than the smell of coffee and sweets. Better Bagel had some of the best, in his opinion, and he often stopped here when he had the time. The cinnamon buns here were the probably the best he'd ever had (other than his mother's, of course). He quickly stepped in line behind some people and started scoping out the place, trying to find somewhere he could sit. He hoped that by the time he got out of the line there would be a window seat available. Andrew liked being able to look out at the people wandering by, the vehicles driving past; all that wonderful stuff outside the quietness of the cafe.
Seattle was very different from his hometown. Here there were cars everywhere; at home, there would be hours between vehicles passing by on the one main road, unless you'd gone into town. Here people walked passed one another without a second glance; at home, you couldn't walk down the down the road without people noticing who you were and stopping to talk to you. It was a completely different atmosphere, which was welcoming to Andrew. As much as he missed his home, friends and family, this was an adventure for him. And so far, it was an enjoyable one. Though he hadn't met very many people yet, he was sure in time he would. Andrew was still having quite a time getting settled into his new apartment, setting up all of his furniture and other things; none of his friends lived here to help him, and he didn't have the money to hire movers. All of this had left him very little time to get out and meet people. Over the summer he would work, and then once fall came around he would begin classes at the university. Then he would meet all kinds of people, and hopefully make some new friends.
"Excuse me," said a woman behind Andrew, pulling him from his thoughts. "Sorry, but you're holding up the line."
Andrew turned and looked, and there was indeed a good amount of space between him and the customer before him. "Oh, I'm sorry!" he replied, quickly moving up. "I'll try to pay a bit more attention to the line next time."
The woman giggled a little, covering her smile with her hand before turning back to her friends who were in line behind her. They quickly started to chatter on, casting a few quick glances in Andrew's direction. He just chuckled to himself, turning back around and walking up to the counter once the other customers had already ordered. "Hi, could I get a cinnamon roll with icing, please?" he asked, digging into his back pocket for his wallet. "And a medium tea, two sugar?"
"Sure thing," said the employee behind the counter. It was a young girl, and she gave him a pleasant smile which he found hard not to return."It'll be one second."
Once both cinnamon roll and tea were obtained, Andrew was happy to find that there was a window seat available for him to sit in. He put his books and his tea on the table before sitting down with the cinnamon bun already stuck in his mouth. Unlike most, who usually pulled the delicious bun apart before eating it, Andrew just ate it like it was. No sense in doing it and getting your fingers all sticky, especially if you were intending on touching anything in the imminent future. Like his book, which he had opened now, flipping through the pages to see where he had left off. He was in the middle of reading Oedipus Rex for probably the millionth time, his worn out copy lying open on the table as he read and drank his tea.

Audrey walked in and like a reflex, she pushed her bangs behind her ear before doing anything else. She stood there for a moment, breathing in the sweet smell of the cafe and taking in her surroundings before walking up to the line. She was the fifth person in line but it usually didn't take long for the line to disperse. The employee's were good at getting things done here, they were quick. She had thought at applying here for a job at one time but she always liked the idea of working at circa. She actually had to work tonight but until then she was free. As the daughter of Aura, Audrey has a built in alarm clock. Normally it makes her get up really early but just like alarm clocks... the time can be changed. She liked getting up early though. It allows more time during the day to get things done and you always have extra time to just, wake up. And this cafe, was her waking up process. That and doing some of her english homework. Her grades were perfect in english because it's her favorite subject.
Just like she had thought, the line had dispersed down to one person who was paying right now. She smiled, already knowing what she wanted. When the guy grabbed his food, she moved up. "Hey, Uhm, I'd like a hot chocolate and a blueberry bagel with almond cream on it." She smiled, the lady gave her a weird look when she repeated hot chocolate. Sure, it was summer but Seattle wasn't the warmest place and Audrey was cold natured. She was usually always cold, well that and the fact that she loves hot chocolate. "Alright, it'll be done in just a moment!" Audrey grinned and pulled out her wallet from her purse. She pulled out a ten with her good hand and waited to get her change back. Her hand was healing and the doctor said she could take the brace off in a week and a half. Sighing, Audrey looked down at her hand until the lady handed her change back and then Audrey smiled when her food was handed to her.
She looked around and found two options. The girl over in the corner had an extra seat... and then there was guy by the window with a cinnamon roll and a book. The girl didn't look like a conversation kind of person and the guy was sitting next to the window. She could get lost in a trance when looking out the window and watching the streets. It was like watching the world, well a small.. very small portion of it from the outside. The outside looking in. She sighed happily finally choosing to go sit by the guy. She began walking over to him and smiled when he looked up. "Hi there, uhm, would you mind if I sat here?"

The cafe was filling up fast, the noise of everyone inside getting louder and louder, as though they were trying to compete with one another in volume. The line to the counter was still long, nearly reaching the door. People who had ordered and recieved their items had a decision to make: either stay inside and try to find a seat somewhere, or leave and go find somewhere else to sit and chat with their friends. Andrew was glad that he had gotten here before the rush; he had no idea this cafe was so popular. He supposed it was probably the cinnamon rolls, taking another bite out of his.
Yeah, it was definitely the cinnamon rolls.
It was beginning to get difficult to read, the words on the page disappearing amongst the chattering of the people around him. He would be reading and all of the sudden "What if the blind prophet can see?" would turn into "And then I called her back, and she was all like 'Hey girl!'" Andrew was just about to try reading the same line he had been trying to read for the past five minutes again, when he noticed a young girl approaching him, probably looking for a seat. He was not surprised at this; a quick look around made him realize that he held one of the few seats left in the cafe at his small table.
The girl was pretty, the light reflecting in her brown eyes from the window and her dark blond hair braided. Her smile was cute, and Andrew could already feel his own lips moving to do the same. When she had asked if she could sit with him, he had forgotten that he had just taken a bite out of his cinnamon roll. He quickly tried to swallow without choking or looking like a complete fool.
"Don't mind at all," he said when the food morsel was gone, motioning to the seat across from him. "Place sure fills up quick, eh?" He chuckled softly and closed his book, making a mental note of what page he was on before looking up and smiling at her. Andrew had not been expecting any sort of morning conversation; he figured he would drink his tea, eat his cinnamon roll and be on his way. But now that the chance had presented itself for him to meet someone new, he was not going to pass it up.
"My name is Andrew, Andrew Smith," he said, putting his hand out towards her. He hoped he was not being too forward; he was unaccustomed to meeting people in such a large city, or in such a highly populated cafe. "Nice to meet you."

Audrey smiled as the guy motioned to the empty seat. She sat her bagel down along with her sweet tea on the table and then looped her purse around her chair with her good hand. She sat down finally and laughed about his comment about it filling up quickly. It was pretty crazy at these times. She usually tried to get here earlier but today just wasnt one of those days. She had woken up on time but she had taken way too long a shower and then spent too much time fixing her hair. Spend an hour on your hair and end up simply braiding it,... it was craziness.
"You're telling me. You run late on getting out of bed and you end up in the morning rush hour. Though I guess it's because they have really good bagels.... or in your case really good cinnamon rolls. Are they good?" She always liked bagels, though she really liked the warm blueberry ones with the almond cream cheese spread. It was like heaven disguised as a bagel. She took a sip of her sweet tea before Andrew introduced himself. Andrew. Andrew Smith. it was catchy that was for sure.
She offered her hand and shook his, smiling when he said nice to meet you. He was pretty cute for a random guy at a coffee shop. Not that being a random guy in a coffee shop made you any less cuter. Though she wasn't really into relationships right now. Her mind was trying to avoid anything guy wise. "I'm Audrey. Audrey Maddings. It's nice to meet you too."
OOC: Sorry its lame and short :/ I wanted to get a reply in before im gone for the weekend.

Andrew could not help but feel a little bit elated when she decided to sit down with him. It was not very often that people nowadays willingly walked up to someone they did not know, and have conversations with them on a whim. He was one of those people that could do that comfortably; meet new people and spend his time just talking away with them. A lot of his friends deemed it his best quality.
"Audrey," he said, smiling. "And yes, the cinnamon rolls here are great. Remind me of the ones my mum used to make, covered in glaze." Talking about them tempted Andrew to go back up to the counter and get another one of the delicious rolls, but he did not have much cash on him at the moment. Another reason for why he was out: he needed to scope out the job scene. He was lucky enough to have parents that were willing to give him money (even though he felt bad for taking it), and was able to get by on rent and a few groceries. But he wanted more spending money in his pocket, and to be able to put the money his parents continued to give him to better use, such as putting it in some kind of savings account. It was always good to have some extra cash saved in case you were in need of it.
Pays to have parents with enough money to get themselves and their son by, I suppose...
It was not that Andrew did not appreciate everything his parents did for him. They loved him, and he loved them, and everything that they had given him and done for him in his life. He just wished that they were less... Overprotective, for lack of a better word. Instead of allowing Andrew to make some mistakes, be late on some months' rent and bills, they would step in immediately to make sure he was doing alright money wise. He understood why; they did not want him to fail in the first thing that he actually wanted to make an effort in doing in his life. But it was still awkward for him, being 20 years old, to have his parents paying his way. Once he found a job, he would be able to do all of these things on his own, and feel better for it.
"So," Andrew began, trailing away from his thoughts and back to the conversation. "Do you live around here? I'm fairly new to these parts, and haven't really been around to see much else other than my apartment, the University and this cafe." He smiled, picking up his tea and taking a small drink from it. "And the local grocery store, of course."
OOC: That's cool. I was busy all weekend too. :)

"And yes, the cinnamon rolls here are great. Remind me of the ones my mum used to make, covered in glaze." Audrey smiled, taking yet another bite of her bagel. Her stomach already craving some thing extra. She wondered whether it would look weird if she pulled out a container of green grapes... she loved those things. At the moment, she decided to just wait.. maybe she could get them out later. She looked up at Andrew as he responded about the cinnamon rolls and she grinned. The ones his mom used to make sounded delicious and he was only describing a regular cinnamon roll. Made Audrey crave homemade food.
"They sound delicious, I love homemade food though I never had my mom make me any...." she drifted off at the end. Something about this guy just said that she didn't know him. That he didn't know Thaedeus so telling him about her actual mom might freak him out. This was something she definitely had to work on, was spotting the special people from the others. They all looked alike so there was no big difference that would help her tell. Though normally, when people at Thaedeus talk about their parents they ask about who their godly parent is. Of course this guy looked older then highschool so was it possible?
"So,"......."Do you live around here? I'm fairly new to these parts, and haven't really been around to see much else other than my apartment, the University and this cafe." ... "And the local grocery store, of course."
Well that right there answered her question. He was new in town, at University , and was not part of Thaedeus. She should really show him around, she knew most of the places around the town and to be honest boredom was engulfing her. Even with work and all, she was still bored as ever. "I go to a boarding school, I guess that's what it is, called Thaedeus. It's not far from here at all and I'm a senior. Well, I will be when school starts back." She laughed a bit and took a sip of her drink before resuming. You should definitely go see the art museum and of course, the space needle." She smiled, finishing off a bit more of her bagel . If you ever need someone to show you around, I'd love to." She smiled before leaning back in her chair a bit and brushing her hair out of her face again. "Oh, you said you were at the University? What are you majoring in?"
OOC: Sorry, i took so long. I was having writers block when it came to Audrey.

"If you ever need someone to show you around, I'd love to."
Andrew smiled when she offered to show him around the city. There were a lot of places that he had not gone to since his arrival, and when she mentioned the space needle, he tried to think of why he had not already made a trip out to see one of Seattle's more famous tourist attractions. There were also a lot of parks, which he had been hoping to visit sometime soon as well. One thing he really missed about living back home in Nova Scotia were the forests. Walking through the trees and breathing in the fresh air was a great stress reliever for him, and he was more than happy to find out that Seattle had some places where he could go and do just that.
"Yeah, I think I might like that," he replied, drinking the last few dregs of his tea. "I honestly have no idea why I haven't explored more of Seattle already. I guess I've just been busy trying to settle in."
This was true; a large number of his possessions were still sitting in boxes around his apartment, untouched. Although, to his credit, he had sorted them well enough that the boxes filled with things for certain rooms were in their respective areas. Now it was just a matter of taking everything out of the boxes and disposing of all the cardboard - a task he was not looking forward to in the least. Unpacking was just about as pleasurable as packing everything up.
"Oh, you said you were at the University? What are you majoring in?"
Andrew picked up his book and turned it so that Audrey could see the cover. "I'm actually going to be studying theatre," he replied, setting the book back down once she had seen the title. "It's been something I have enjoyed since I was in high school. I was involved in so many theatre related things, and when I sat down and thought about what I wanted to study, I thought to myself: what better than the thing you love the most?"
OOC: That's cool, I can totally understand writer's block. It's such a pain in the buttocks. :)

"Yeah, I think I might like that,"..."I honestly have no idea why I haven't explored more of Seattle already. I guess I've just been busy trying to settle in."
She smiled, before looking down at where her bagel was. Seems all the talking had her finishing her bagel off so quickly she hadn't even noticed there wasn't anymore left. She shrugged and just took a sip of her drink instead. Those grapes would probably be pulled out super soon, seeing as her stomach was growling. She hated how her stomach was making her ignore what Andrew had just said... she really should try and listen better. He said he would like if she showed him around, which of course made her mind buzz at where she should take him first. Should she start off at the small things and then go to the big? She laughed a tiny bit before speaking."You said yes and now my mind is whirling at where I should take you first." She grinned before resting her back against her chair. "Well, I would love to help you get settled if thats not pushing the whole just-met-you thing. Strangely enough, I like unpacking my stuff course I haven't moved in a while."
Finally, she couldn't take it anymore and she reached into her purse and pulled out a container of semi frozen green grapes. She put her purse on the back of her chair again and then opened the container. She looked up at Andrew and did a small grin. "You'll quickly learn I love green grapes, so I hope you don't mind me getting them out. If you want some go right ahead." She said as she pushed the container a little more in the middle.
"I'm actually going to be studying theatre,".... "It's been something I have enjoyed since I was in high school. I was involved in so many theatre related things, and when I sat down and thought about what I wanted to study, I thought to myself: what better than the thing you love the most?"
She smiled, sitting up. It seemed she'd get along rather well with this guy. She knew loving art and sculpting wasn't the same as theatre but it was along the same idea of creativity and expressing yourself. Or so she thought. "I totally agree, in fact when I graduate I'm going to major in the arts. I love painting, sculpting, skecthing, and I'm thinking about possibly going into interior design or something like that. You should definitely do you what you love, it makes things so much more pleasant."

"You'll quickly learn I love green grapes, so I hope you don't mind me getting them out. If you want some go right ahead."
Andre could not help but chuckle a little bit as he reached forward and took a grape from the container."I like the green ones myself, actually," he replied, popping the grape in his mouth; he loved the first bite into a grape, how the juices exploded in your mouth with flavour. "Those are great, thank you. And as for your offer to help me unpack all my things, that's okay. I wouldn't want to be pushing the just-met-you boundaries either by making you sort through all my junk."
He laughed again - if it was one thing he had a lot of, it was junk. A lot of the stuff he had brought with him probably could have been left back at home with his mother and father. It definitely would have been easier to fly down here without all the baggage, but when it came right down to it, he could not leave a lot of his things behind. Albeit, a lot of the little things were just trinkets that were unnecessary, but nice to have around nonetheless. It was like a small piece of home that he was able to bring along with him.
"You should definitely do you what you love, it makes things so much more pleasant."
Andrew smiled at this. When he had decided to go for a career in the arts, he was worried that his parents would not go for it. This was ridiculous of course; his parents just wanted him to be happy, as did a lot of his friends, who encouraged him to come to Seattle when he had been accepted to the university here. He was glad to find someone else who thought just as he did.
"I completely agree," he replied. He took another grape, unable to help himself. "If I had to choose between a job that I didn't enjoy but paid high, to a job that I loved more than anything just pays, I'd go for the latter any day. It just seems more worth it to me, you know?"
His gaze turned to the window, and he smiled to himself.
"To strive for something you're passionate about. To do something that is worthwhile to you, without having to worry about what everyone else thinks about your decisions." Andrew signed contently, turning back to Audrey with the smile still adorning his features.
"To do it because you love it more than anything else."

"If I had to choose between a job that I didn't enjoy but paid high, to a job that I loved more than anything just pays, I'd go for the latter any day. It just seems more worth it to me, you know?"
Audrey smiled and nodded. He had an excellent point and it was something, she could totally agree with. She'd gone through rough times last semester and she'd given her painting a pause but when she started again. Her first one being of Henry, she'd realized what she had needed that whole time. Sure it wouldn't have totally solved her problem but it would've helped to relieve some of that stress. Art was her life now of days, after no one wanted to hang out and no one wanted to call. It was like her rock, and it was what she loved.
"I completely agree, see to me my art is like... my safe haven. It's a stress reliever and I love it. I've gone times without it and it just gets worse. It's definitely worth it to do something you love for less then do something you hate for more. Then you're just,.... it's like you're not even living. I think everyone has one thing in their life's that make them utterly happy. My art has been my rock, and has been that one thing. "
"To strive for something you're passionate about. To do something that is worthwhile to you, without having to worry about what everyone else thinks about your decisions." .............. "To do it because you love it more than anything else."
She smiled as she listened, he sounded so passionate and determined. It was inspiring just listening to him, and though she loved her art like that, she knew she could never say it like that; as meaningful as that.
"I don't really display my art or show it off not that I have a problem with showing my feelings, but all my emotions and the words left unsaid goes into my art. It's one of the best things ever and I'd wish anyone to have that sort of haven. To have such a deep love for doing something such as painting."
